Join me to learn new approaches to psychotherapy while integrating them with the best of traditional methods.
I am a clinical psychologist, trained psychoanalyst, and scholar of the psychotherapy integration and unification movement. This group is designed for therapists with any theoretical background. My original training was psychodynamic and I can help students who come from this approach understand their cases more deeply. I can also provide guidance to those without psychodynamic experience who wish to learn more about it.
I have become immersed in the psychotherapy integration movement and am interested in finding ways to integrate aspects of contemporary treatment approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Possible topics for this fall will include recent developments in psychoanalysis, CBT and other therapies; AI and its relevance/dangers in psychotherapy; challenges to the working alliance; common factors in treatment; countertransference pitfalls related to the therapist’s personal needs; and ethical issues regarding therapist illness or death.
The group will run for eight weeks beginning October 14, 2025, on Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (We will skip the meeting on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.)
The cost is $600 per person ($75 per session) for a minimum of six people. I can accommodate six people in-person at my downtown Ann Arbor office, and there will also be a hybrid option for those out of town.
